Availability and delivery lead time

We provide some recommendations below for getting your plantation off to a good start, in terms of the quantities ordered and management of your prenursery and nursery.

The quantity and availability of seeds should be checked as early as possible:
18 months before the scheduled planting out period, for very large size projects.

Recommended seed quantity

It is usual to order:

A strict visual selection of the best plants in the prenursery and nursery enables to ensure optimum yields over the entire life span of the plantation.

For orders delivered by air, a free batch amounting to 5% of the quantity ordered is added to each seed delivery to compensate for any losses during shipment.

The minimum order limit at PalmElit: 3,200 seeds (~16 hectares)

Availability and seed delivery lead time

CIRAD® planting material is delivered by PalmElit or its accredited distributors in the form of germinated seeds.

Seed batches are prepared for germination almost continually in order to allow rapid delivery, within 4 to 6 weeks.

However, for large quantities, seeds will be placed specifically in the germinator for delivery within 4 months.

On request, PalmElit or your CIRAD® seed retailer will confirm the best lead time depending on the variety, time of year and quantity required.

The time spent in the prenursery and nursery is around one year.

Consequently, consideration needs to be given to receiving and sowing germinated seeds one year before the scheduled planting date, which is advised at the beginning of the rainy season.

We advise our clients to anticipate their needs and place their orders well in advance with our services or partners.
