Seed reception and the nursery

The client or their agent should take particular care and make careful checks on receipt of the seeds at the destination airport, so as to get back to PalmElit, or the distributor involved, as quickly as possible where necessary.

Germinated seed reception

Seeds are monitored in air transit by a recording thermometer inserted in each shipped batch. It should be read by the client or their agent on arrival at the airport to check that a temperature of between 15 and 30°C has been maintained throughout the transit time. If an error is discovered at the destination point, it must be reported in writing to the transporter and PalmElit within 48 hours, in order to send any claims to the insurer.

Prenursery and nursery management

PalmElit has drawn up a recommendation booklet that accompanies each delivery to a new client and is also available on-line by clicking on the link below. Good nursery management guarantees a more productive plantation.

It is necessary to bear in mind the need for strict selection of the best plants at the prenursery and nursery stages, to guarantee the best yields in the future. Up to 30% of natural abnormals may be culled in all, but this possible initial loss will be compensated for by higher yields.

We strongly advise sowing CIRAD® seeds in an identified way, by category, at each stage from the prenursery up to planting out. This will ensure maximum plant uniformity and will facilitate culling, fertilization and harvesting.
